I've recently bought an halcyon 23 and spent some time refitting her. All's done now with the exception of the replacement of the rigging screws and mounting of a VHF antenna on the top of the mast which i plan to complete this weekend.
I have put the mast up so she could go on her mooring and i am comfortable with taking it down and putting it back up but at present the mast is leaning slightly forwards rather than raking back.
The angle seems to be dictated by the bolts used to secure the mast i.e. the bottom securing bolt forces the mast towards the rear of the mounting, leaning the mast forward. Is this normal? Can it be solved by using a smaller bottom bolt to allow play? Is there some trick to it all?
Any help would be appreciated. |

Not sure if I am addressing your exact problem - a pic would perhaps illustrate the point if you could post it.
I had a problem with mast rake on my Offshore 8 metre which I solved by getting a stainless steel plate made up which fitted over the bolt heads on deck mast fitting. This effectively reduced the rake. i had spent some time playing about with the forestay and back stay to see if I could achieve the same thing - perhaps that is something you could check out as well. Good luck |
