I have now removed the SABB 8H Diesel from our Halcyon 27 and bought a Vetus which I will fit over the winter.  My entire SABB collection is thus surplus to requiements.  If you need anything, please get in touch via email dgbalfour@gmail.com.

I have one complete engine (working) including a recently reconditioned cylinder head, dynastart (with control boxes), variable pitch prop, remote pitch and throttle linkage (for mounting aft in cockpit rather than through the floor) and all the other gubbins.  I thought the gearbox had seized in forward pitch, but the act of removing it from the boat seems to have freed it off.

I also have another engine in pieces, again with all the accessories less shaft and prop, but with the forward and reverse type gearbox.  This engine was also running well when I stripped it.  The head is good and I have had the injector reconditioned as a spare - it has never been used.  The dynastart is new.

I may be able to deliver the complete engine at the buyers cost as I have a hoist and trailer (for the time being).  I would also be prepared to strip the complete engine if there was demand for its internals.

I hope 'Sabbers' can find a new home in somebody else's Halcyon.

Regards,

David

My apologies for those that have not received a reply yet, I have been somewhat overwhelmed by the response to this!  I have been enquiring about the cost of new parts so I can ask sensible money for these second hand bits.

I will now be selling both engines in pieces due to the demand for the cylinder heads and the price of new ones (over £800!).  Some parts have already been sold, the following are a list of what I would like for the major items.

Cylinder head:  £250
Exhaust silencer and swept bend:  £100
15" twin blade variable pitch prop with new thrust bearings:  £100
Remote variable pitch and throttle linkages/levers:  £75
Dynastarts:  £150 (nearly new) and £100 (the one we've been using, looks a bit 2nd hand but works well) - I'm hanging on to the regulators for the time being as my car uses them.

For other items please ask.

All the bits are being kept near Chichester but I live and work in Nottingham so make reasonably regular trips up and down.  My dad also makes semi-regular trips to Weymouth so between us we might be able to deliver items at the buyers cost.

Hope this helps,

David

I've still got quite a few bits of these engines left if anybody needs them!

Hi, i'm looking after a freeze plug for a Sabb H 8hp, build in 1969. I can't find any info nor pictures how the plug looks like to be sure we got all old pieces of the plug out of the engine. (should be at last 60mm wide, is that correct?)
