Hi all,

I have a 31 ft. Nantucket Clipper and am interested to know if anyone knows any brands of engines that are compatible with this model?

I currently have the original SABB 10hp engine that was fitted with the boat, but it's time to replace it.

Any ideas welcome.

Cheers!

Hi

Our Clipper from 1973 has a Yanmar 2 QM 15 G . The Yanmar was mounted in 2006 just before we bought the clipper.

I had a 3 pot yanma fitted by French Marine in Brightlingsea and am VERY pleased with it. You will find that some alterations to the bearers will be needed, in my case a steel bar was installed to make the bearers wider. i opted for new stern gear with a deep sea seal, 3 blade prop. Although expensive £6k, the engine has been a godsend in getting me home against adverse weather and tides. not sure where you are based but French's are a yanma dealer.

all the best
john

ps would you be interested in attending our OYCOA rally in Holland next year?

This is mine "Gus Goose" -Disney's creature- Beta Marine BD1005 -28hp, 3 cyl. Rugged, clear, lightweight, low fuel consumption, easy care & maintenance.
- Note I installed a twin refrigerating medium i.e. both seawater and fresh water. I use the second one when returning by any trip before stopping the engine. In such a way, we have no engine part & accessories w. seawater insisting on it.

Wow, what a superb installation.  Very good tip installing a duel cooling system for fresh and sea water.
