Hi my hull number is 2526 as far as i am aware the boat was built in 1968  DSCF0138.JPG
How many Halcyon 23s were built? I thought they only made a few hundred but my number is 2526 i have seen other boat / hull plates 2110 ect was there 2000 built if so was my boat actually built later than 1968 ???

Hopefully some one can shed more light on the subject

I wondered about that too Andy. Maybe Seamaster, started at 1 and kept going up as they rolled out the factory? They made lots of different hulls, for different companies, so that would mean the H23s wouldn't have consecutive numbers?

I found earlier this week that Anne Wever shipyard in Eindhoven, Holland build also Halcyon I, II and Clipper from 1968 till 1972 besides the well known Trintella, casco's came from England. Now I wonder what type the I and II are? Anyone any ideas?

It is a mystery to me: the seller said it was build in 1975; the oldest sails , main and jib, are from 1969, the genua 1970 and the engine a Sabb H 8hp from 1969. No hullnumber can be found somewhere on the boat.
BTW it is a Halcyon 27

True enough David there's alot of mystery surrounding the age of these boats however ! we do know that they were made from 1968 -1975 so even if they made 2 every month for all 7 years then there were less than 200 made in the uk .
That said in the early days there were possibly more than 2 a month ,i did read (i cannot remember where) that the order book in the last year there were only 4 boats ordered all year !. This is the same story for the 23 aswell although there were noted changes to the construction giving a slightly better indication to age .All the hull numbers i have seen (where they are still present) give no real indication to age and as Andyt says these are most likely to run consecutively ,3286 is h23 but 3287 could be a speed boat !
Regards Simon

Didn’t the same company make hulls for a variety of boats? That number probably refers to the number of hulls, not specifically relating to the Halcyon series.
